Hello everyone, I felt this had to be explained to my loved ones as some struggle with this. This is not a bible study or a sermon of any sorts. I hope this explains allot to the ones that need it and to everyone else thank you for reading and being in line with our Lords work.
PRIEST- Is a person who is authorized to perform sacred ritual and WAS a mediator between man and God.
Through Gods direction Moses brother Aaron and his descendants were the first Priests. Aaronites also called Levites were responsible for the interceding to God for the peoples sins. They did this with blood offerings and prayer. God could choose to take a priest life as a blood offering in exchange for sin. Yes to be a priest means you are willing to give your life for everyone else’s.
In Mark 14 Jesus s brought to his trial in front of the high priest and all the chief Priest. This trial was illegal under every angle of the laws in place at this time. During this mockery of a trial false witness was made against Jesus. Jesus kept silent. The Priest asked Jesus under oath if he is the son of God (another thing that was illegal to do under Jewish law). Jesus reply was I AM: The Priest then rips Jesus garment. At this time Jesus takes the Priest hood away as he now became the intercessor and sacrifice for all sin.
Now there can no longer be a Priest ever again. If anyone says he is a Priest it is for a false God or satan.
PASTOR- Is one cares for a flock or a church. Also known as a Shepherd. Jesus says in John 10:14 "I am the good Shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." This shows the very intimate relationship between a pastor and the ones he takes care of. John 10:27 says "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me." Sheep trust the Pastor/Shepherd and know that they will take care of them. Psalm 23:2 Refers to us as sheep and says "He makes me lie down in green pastures, he lead me besides quit waters. It goes on in Psalm 23:3 referring to the loving pastor that God is to man and says "He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake". If a man chooses to be a Pastor he has chosen to take a great burden of caring for Gods people. It is his responsibility to love them and keep then as Jesus would.
1 Tim 3:1-7 Says "a Pastor/Overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family how can he take care of Gods Church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into a disgrace and into the devils trap."
If a presumed Pastor does not fit all the things I have explained he should give up his position quickly as not to anger God more. In James 3:1 it says ”Let not many of you become teacher/masters, my brothers and believers, because you who teach will be judged more strictly." If anyone notices a person who presumes to be a Pastor does not fit what I have told you he is not a Pastor and you should rebuke him and find a real Pastor. You are responsible for knowing Gods voice listen to it.
MINISTER- Is to attend to someone’s needs, to care of attend to. A nurse administers treatment to a Patient. A Doctor ministers to an injury. To share the Gospel is to minister to the ones that are lost or sick. Mark 2:16-17 "when the scribes of the Pharisees saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, why is he eating and drinking with the tax collectors and sinners? And hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
We should all as followers of Christ be minister and have the knowledge of his word to give to people when we see the need. Start developing this because it is God’s plan for you to do it.
PREACHER- Is simple a person who delivers a message to a congregation or other large group of people. Anyone can be a preacher and can preach about anything from politics to Global warming. This is not necessarily a title of church. Jesus however did preach and even fed people on occasion. However he only delivered a message. John the Baptist also preached he said "the kingdom of heaven is at hand". Preaching does not fulfill the need of every person to have a real intimacy and connection to a preacher or God. Mark 6:7 explains Jesus sent them out in pairs to people houses to share the good news. When they preached is says the said the people should repent. The intimacy that is needed to adequately share the gospel does not come from preaching. Preaching is only a conviction to find more truth.
Recap: Jesus is the only one who is all 4 of these titles. There is no more priests as Jesus is the last priest. If anyone claims to be a priest today by the definition then they can only be working for satan. Rebuke them. As a Christian we all should be ministers. If you are not start reading and learn how to be. Very few are called to be pastors. Pray for these people as this the hardest job on earth for the Kingdom of God, but you are responsible for the pastor you follow. Last of all anyone can be a preacher and may be called to it at any time but be sure before you open your mouth that it is Gods voice coming out. I personally only know of a handful of people that are Pastors, Ministers and Preachers as this takes an extraordinary person. Some people may be 2 of the 3. Be sure we are all Ministers, and I may be only that.
Love and Encouragement,
Aaron
